  1. Click Make a Payment.

  2. Reason for payment -> Balance Due, Estimated Payment, or Extension

  3. Apply payment to -> 1040 for payments to be applied to a balance due, 1040ES for estimated payments, or 4868 for extension payments.

  4. Tax Period for Payment -> Select year for the return you are filing.

  5. Click continue and input data to verify your identity. You will need a prior year return for this step. If we prepared your return, it’s available on Sharefile.

  6. Continue following prompts until you receive confirmation. Be sure to save a copy of the confirmation page.

You can set up an electronic funds transfer from your checking or savings account through the DirectPay service on the IRS website.

The IRS doesn't charge a processing fee for this option. You can schedule payments up to 30 days in advance, and you can also cancel or change them up to two business days before you've scheduled them.

DirectPay accommodates numerous types of payments related to Form 1040, such as balance-due payments, estimated payments, and extension payments. Double check that you are selecting the correct tax year and the correct payment type (e.g., Estimated Payment, Extension Payment, Amended Return, etc.).

Individual income and school district income tax, including extension payments, estimated payments, and billing assessments.

You can also view your payment history for up to 61 months. Users to view and print transcripts of previously filed returns for up to 10 years, view communications from the Ohio Department of Taxation, check outstanding balances, and update select contact information.

If you are remitting for both Ohio and school district income taxes, you must remit each payment as a separate transaction.

If you previously had an account with Online Services\I-File (prior to September 5, 2023), your username is no longer valid, and you will need to create a new OH|TAX eServices account.

City of Columbus’ Columbus Revenue Information Service Portal (CRISP) system allows taxpayers to file and pay local income taxes (Individual/Business/Withholding) and check refund status, estimated payments made, etc.

New users will need to register. The city has video tutorials available on its YouTube channel:

City of Dublin offers a convenient electronic payment option for paying any taxes due. Payment can be made by electronic checking/savings withdraw without a fee.

Taxpayers will need their Dublin tax account number. There is an option to retrieve your tax account with your last name and your SSN.
